Information
After publishing the ‘Copperplate Script Manual – A Yin & Yang Approach’, and continuously looking through it, I felt there were things in the manual which needed to be free and accessible to everyone. Determining what those pages were was not easy but in the end I decided on 13 pages, and that led to the creating of the ‘Essential Information Extracts’ or ‘EIE’.

The set of pages includes the information on ‘Tools & Materials’ as well as their interactions. I felt the page on ‘Oblique vs Straight’ in the light of how these two different penstaves affect the shape of the letter was of critical importance. And, of course, I couldn’t omit the pages on ‘Posture, Placement and Position’ which necessitated 3 free videos on YouTube as well as the considerably longer counterparts in the PAScribe Scriptorium.

There are a few things in the manual I am intensely proud of and that is the ‘Line of Universal Beauty’ and the ‘Anatomy of the Majuscules’ and the Anatomy of the Minuscules’ pages, as they help connect the manual to the English Writing Masters of the 18th century.

I wanted an introduction to my ‘Brush Hold’ as it is the basis of my ‘Tool Hold’ and the words list which includes the ‘Gods of Writing’ the world over as well as ‘Egyptian Pharaohs’, ‘Animals’, ‘Names of Crystals’ and difficult words I have come across in my practice.

So why give this valuable information away for free? I strongly believe in ‘personal responsibility’ and that means helping those who cannot afford a detailed book to at least gain some insight into the practice. Also, for those only wanting a taste of what they could gain from acquiring the manual, this gives a little bit of insight into the depth of knowledge covered in the manual.

The EIE comes with some video content which lives in the PAScribe Scriptorium in its own free course. You can find it at the below link
